Therapy for family caregivers In new york & CALIFORNIA

Care, balanced.

how do we care for ourselves when we care for others?

Find the balance.

Do you feel overwhelmed in your role as a caregiver? Do you feel like no matter what you do, you cannot find time for yourself?

We are not born knowing how to be caregivers, nor can we ever fully anticipate the challenges of the role. Many of us don’t even recognize that we are caregivers - we see ourselves simply as daughters, sons, spouses, or family members doing what needs to be done. We may feel happy to provide care for a loved one or feel resentful for taking care of someone who never cared for us. Either way, being a caregiver presents many challenges that can negatively affect our well-being. Often we lose our sense of self, assuming only this one identity and purpose.

Caregivers are those concerned about the well-being of another person. Whether we are caring for someone at home, in a facility, or long-distance, and whether we provide full-time assistance or emotional support, we often find ourselves immersed in daily struggles. Caregiving impacts all areas of our lives - mental, physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual. We deserve support for what might be one of the hardest things we will ever do. And to find a way not just to survive, but to thrive and flourish in this vital and challenging role.

Hi, I’m ANDREA.

I’m here to support you on your caregiver journey.

I am a dedicated therapist with years of experience helping caregivers navigate the challenges of caring for their family members and friends. With a compassionate and empathetic approach, I provide a safe space for you to explore your feelings, cope with stress, and find effective strategies for self-care.

For the past 20 years, I have worked with family caregivers caring for adults with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias, Parkinson’s, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Huntington’s, and other chronic conditions. I have had the privilege of walking side by side with my clients as they navigate the challenges of caregiving and the profound impact it has on their own mental health.

As a trained clinical social worker, I recognize the unique experience of each person and the importance of educating and connecting individuals to resources and other supports that can help them stay balanced long after our work together is done.
