Meet ANDREA Cangiano, Lcsw
You’re already stronger than you think you are.
Being a caregiver is far from easy. And the burden you carry isn’t meant to be carried alone.
You’re in the right place.
I’m here to help.
Caregiving can be rewarding, but it can also take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being. Whether you're struggling with caregiver stress, grief, depression, anxiety or other challenges, I offer personalized therapy sessions tailored to your unique needs. Utilizing an integrative and eclectic approach, I introduce counseling techniques and interventions that provide education, self-awareness, and the encouragement to rapidly promote change.
As caregivers, we can experience a wide range of emotions - from happiness, gratitude, pride, fulfillment, and love to guilt, regret, anger, resentment, fear, and exhaustion. It is often difficult to make sense of these conflicting feelings and to recognize that we can experience many of them simultaneously. We may feel like we are not doing enough to take care of our family member and often worry that no matter what we do, it will never be enough.
Therapy can provide a space for you to express your feelings, learn coping strategies and stress-reduction techniques, manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, and burnout, and prioritize realistic self-care opportunities. It can also help you learn effective ways to regulate your emotions, develop problem solving skills, improve communication and relationships with the person you are caring for and other family members, and allow you to feel more confident and balanced in your caregiver role.
My style
I believe that effective therapeutic relationships start by building trust.
Trust is the cornerstone of an effective therapeutic relationship. It helps us connect, communicate, and make meaningful progress together. Trust helps you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences honestly. It creates a space where you can explore difficult topics without fear of judgement.
Feeling trusted and supported can boost your confidence and validate your feelings and experiences, reinforcing your sense of self-worth and capability. Trust grows when you see that I am committed to your well-being. Therapy is a team effort. Trust allows us to work together effectively towards your goals.
